Look forward to your thoughts on Das Lied von der Erde- it was my first classical record purchased more than 50 years ago and has remained part of my life's soundtrack.

Yes, I think we'll do that one between symphonies 8 and 9, since I think that it where it falls chronologically. What is your favorite recording?

Hard to say- Walter/Miller was my first and thus my sentimental favorite. Haitink/Baker I listen to for JB. Best sound quality is Walter/Miller/Haefliger.

I love both Walter recordings and the Haitink/Baker. I'm also partial to Klemperer/Wunderlich/Ludwig. It will be difficult to decide which recording to recommend for a first-time listener...
