Look forward to your thoughts on Das Lied von der Erde- it was my first classical record purchased more than 50 years ago and has remained part of my life's soundtrack.
Hard to say- Walter/Miller was my first and thus my sentimental favorite. Haitink/Baker I listen to for JB. Best sound quality is Walter/Miller/Haefliger.
I love both Walter recordings and the Haitink/Baker. I'm also partial to Klemperer/Wunderlich/Ludwig. It will be difficult to decide which recording to recommend for a first-time listener...

Yes, I think we'll do that one between symphonies 8 and 9, since I think that it where it falls chronologically. What is your favorite recording?

One of my favorite composers! Can’t wait for your insights, and I appreciate the motivation to give all the symphonies a focused re-listen.
Thanks, Brian. I look forward to your reflections upon re-listening!
I'm in. Not at all familiar with his work so I am looking forward to this.
Glad you're joining, Matthew; I hope you enjoy it!
