Thanks for this wonderful series, John. I really enjoyed it and learned new stuff!. It's always interesting to see how a composer's style changes throughout their life.

I don’t have much to say here except that Death And The Maiden (an Alban Berq Qt. recording) was both the first chamber music and the first Schubert recording I ever bought, and I’ve loved both ever since. The opening movement is wonderfully assertive, the slow movement spooky and captivating and the last two movements are a thrill ride in a fast machine. What’s not to like? The Rosamunde Quartet isn’t on your playlist but is definitely not to be discounted either.

Thank John for doing this; listening to your playlist ignited a passion to understand the man himself, fascinating life; would love to discover more of the man’s motivations thoughts and ideas around the pieces

Thanks! I imported the playlist to begin! Also, great Cello photo. Simple but beautiful.

This has made me sit down and listen all the way through Schubert pieces. On the radio, I have heard many selections from his symphonies and chamber music, but rarely an entire work all at the same time. I particularly enjoyed the entire Trout Quintet, which I have heard piecemeal since childhood.
